1954 Gibson Les Paul

1954 Gibson Les Paul

1954 Gold tops are some of the most desirable guitars from Gibsons "golden era". It's the second iteration of the maple top Les Paul and featured the new wrap around tailpiece. With perfect neck profiles, incredible sonic capabilities and an iconic look its easy to understand why...

This one is a very strong guitar! The P90's are incredibly articulate and most importantly balanced, not always the case from 52-55. They measure 7.85 N and 8.12 B respectfully with a clarity and definition in the middle position that can not be understated. These readings are very strong so this guitar can really push into fuzzy nirvana while also cleaning up quite easily.

The delicious V shaped neck (one of the reasons 54's are so coveted) fits the hand like a glove. It measures .91 @ 1st and .98 @ 12th with a pronounced V and soft shoulders. It's incredible. This example is also perfectly balanced on the shoulder weighing a very average for the period 9 lbs.

It remains 100% original less one replaced (period correct) pot, there was an added and redundant secondary ground which we removed. The bridge and studs are true and the guitar plays perfectly well up and down the board on its original frets.
