1959 Gibson ES-335

Black Magic Vintage is pleased to offer an incredible "thin top" 1959 Gibson ES-335!
 
Not all 335's (45's and 55's) included can boast the elusive and highly coveted thin top. 95% of the thin tops are 1958's. A handful or two were serialized in 1959 with a 58 FON (factory order number) which usually means a huge neck and often times a shallower neck angle; not everyone digs that... 
 
So to have an example with a 1959 serial and FON (S) is quite rare. 
The neck on this example measures .88 - .96 essentially perfect! The sealed PAF's measure 7.7 N & 8.4 B respectfully, idk that you could ask for better. It comes with an old appraisal from George Gruhn circa 1978. Obviously that no longer holds any water but it's cool to have.
Aside from having an incredible broken in vibe overall this instrument has a couple of changed bits since that appraisal in 1978.
The frets and nut have been updated, it now plays perfectly well up and down the board. There were at one time other tuners on the guitar but the originals are back on!
