1963 Gibson Les Paul/SG
Black Magic Vintage is pleased to offer this killer 1963 Gibson LesG!
1963 is the last year that the "new Les Paul" model now known as the SG carried the Les Paul moniker on its truss cover. 63's are a real sweet spot for the model, you still get the aforementioned "Les Paul" moniker which is cool and the overall esthetic of the first iteration with the sideways vibrato but far more importantly (to many of us) you get a much rounder neck. The flat wide profiles of 61 & 62 can get too thin (.78 at 1st) which leads to structural issues as well as an unbalanced guitar. In short, 63 = sweet spot!
The neck on this instrument measures .83 in depth, middle of the 1st with really round shoulders overall giving you a great feel in the hand. It measures .96 at the 12th. The sealed PAT# pickups read 7.71 N & 8.19 B, excellent readings. This particular instrument is exceedingly loud acoustically, it is tremendously resonant and a great player...
This guitar was well loved, well played & yet remains 100% factory original to the frets! This is a great piece that remains all there but isn't so clean that you'd be afraid to play it! Something we all really can appreciate.
